We make things. Sometimes out of raw materials sometimes out of things we found and have repurposed. That is the basic’s of what we do. Read our full story below.

The Maker

My name is Joe. Since I can remember I have always been interested in building things. As a kid I would sit in front of my grandma's TV with a hammer, nails, and some scrap wood and build along with Norm Abram while watching the New Yankee Workshop. If I wasn't building alongside Norm in front of the TV, I would be in the shop with my grandpa helping him build things.

Although a kid shouldn’t play with a hammer and nails, those tools served as a catalyst to fuel my inspiration to build and make things.

I have taken up the motto, why buy something when you can build or make it? Living by this motto, I have remodeled my house and have built most of the furniture inside.

The Finder

As I grew older, I began to develop a love and passion for old things. I love looking at old vintage pieces, antiques, old barns, basically anything built thats old.

I have come to realize things today aren't made with the same level of craftsmanship. Things are made not to be thrown away and there is a certain level of charm and character that comes with old vintage finds.

Why throw things away when they could be repurposed?

Then I found and married someone who shares my same passion for picking through antique malls, spending our weekend walking through an antique market, or just driving around looking at old barns and imagining what they could become.

Our mission

That leads us to today. In 2018, my wife and I decided to share our love for all things made and found. What if we could build quality furniture, unique lamps, or save the windmill vanes from the landfill. What if we could make custom furniture while providing excellent customer service. What if we could inspire people to go out and put the same level of craftsmanship in their work.

That lead us to create Maker and Finder.

So Koa the shop dog, Amber, and myself invite you to browse our store. If you are looking for a custom piece and need help bringing your idea to life contact us and we can work together to create just what you were looking for. And be sure to subscribe to our mailing list to see what we are up to in the shop and our latest makes and finds.
